Banana Pie Recipe

1. To start, Jamie Oliver recommends making ice cream. Whip the cream in a large bowl until fluffy, then add the evaporated milk, coconut milk, rum, and 2 heaping tablespoons of the coconut flakes to the large bowl.

2. Using a blender, blend until fluffy, then transfer the mixture to a frost-proof container and freeze in the freezer for approximately 3 to 4 hours, or until completely set.

3. When approximately 1 hour remains until the ice cream is completely frozen, preheat the oven to 190 C.

4. Place an ovenproof frying pan, approximately 26 cm in diameter, on the stove at medium heat. Add the butter, then, as it melts, pour in the sugar (powdered sugar) and dilute a little with water, stir occasionally so that everything dissolves well.

5. Boil the mixture for approximately 5 minutes, or until golden and caramelized (as pictured), carefully spreading evenly throughout the pan from time to time. Meanwhile...

6. Peel and break the bananas into rough 4cm pieces.

7. Remove the pan from the heat and carefully stir in the bananas until they are coated with caramel. Thus, the filling for our banana pie is already ready.

8. Next, according to the recipe, sprinkle the work surface with flour and roll out the dough to 5 mm thick, and the size should be slightly larger than your frying pan in which we are preparing the banana pie.

9. Carefully roll the dough around the rolling pin, holding it lightly and unroll the dough onto the pan, covering it completely (see recipe photo).

10. Fold the edges around the bananas, making sure they are well covered with dough and there are no gaps, otherwise our banana cake may fall apart.

11. Place the banana cake in the hot oven and bake for 30 - 35 minutes, or until golden brown as pictured. Meanwhile...

12. Place a small skillet on the stove at medium heat. Add the remaining 2 tablespoons coconut and fry for about 1 minute, or until golden brown.

13. Remove the banana cake from the oven and let cool slightly for 1 to 2 minutes.

14. Prepare a dish slightly larger than our banana cake, then carefully invert it directly from the pan onto the dish.

15. Slice and serve the banana cake with a dollop of homemade ice cream and top with toasted coconut.

Recipe from Laura Matthews .
Laura is the head of nutrition on Oliver's team. Her passion for food began with cooking classes at a local college at the age of 10, and she is primarily interested in the nutrition and health of food.

Laura remembers

I still have a copy of the first recipe I was taught to make in home economics class at school.
I baked a lot as a child. I'm sure my mom was sick of it, but she didn't have the heart to tell me; instead, she called me into the kitchen and asked me to participate in everything, even if it led to a big mess!

This was an easy recipe for a child, as it was universal and did not require special preparation. However, just getting to know the ingredients and weighing them to understand the importance of precision when baking was a learning curve in itself.
Seed flour would be appropriate in this recipe. You can also add some extras like cinnamon and vanilla extract—half a teaspoon of each will do the trick—and it'll be delicious served with a dollop of Greek nonfat yogurt. Then the cake will not only be tasty, but also healthy.

From a very young age, children should be aware of the impact food has on their health and well-being. They should learn to love food early on because it will help them understand where ingredients come from and equip them with basic cooking skills to have healthy habits throughout their lives.
Parental support is critical.

Let's remember Jamie with

But still, “repetition is the mother of learning,” once again briefly about the basic bread recipe, on the basis of which banana bread will be baked.

Products

1. Basic bread recipe

  1. 1 kg flour
  2. 625 ml warm water
  3. 30 g pressed yeast
  4. 2 tbsp. sugar or honey
  5. 2 tbsp. without a hill of sea salt
  6. Well, and flour for the work surface

2. Banana bread

  1. Bread dough according to the basic recipe
  2. 6 ripe bananas
  3. 8 tbsp. liquid honey
  4. 1 handful of almonds, chopped

Jamie Oliver's master class Bread recipes (basic recipe)

  • Pour flour into a heap onto the table (work surface).

Make a small depression in the form of a “volcano crater”.

Carefully pour in 1/2 of the water and add yeast, salt and sugar.

Mix with a fork.

  • Carefully, without destroying the “walls” of your flour structure - so that water does not flow out in all directions - mix the flour with the liquid until a porridge-like dough forms.
  • Add the rest of the water and stir, stir, stir... Sprinkle your hands with flour from time to time.

The result should be this: the dough is not sticky and shaped into a ball.

*** Sometimes less water is needed - it depends on the type of flour.

  • Knead the dough intensively for 4-5 minutes - it should be shiny, smooth and elastic.
  • Sprinkle a bowl with flour and place the dough in it. Cover with film and let it rise - the dough loves warmth and calmness...

*** The dough should rise at least 2 times.

  • Poke and press the dough vigorously to release the air. Throw a little on the table...
  • Now is the time to add the ingredients, if you are baking according to a different recipe, and form the loaf.

*** The dough should rise again!

Preheat the oven in advance.

  • Next, everything is done carefully: the bread sits on a baking sheet sprinkled with flour, goes into the oven, and even the oven door is closed extremely carefully!
  • Bake until done.
  • Cool on a wire rack before using to prevent the bread from “sweating”!

If Jamie Oliver's bread recipes interest you, then remember this recipe: you will always have freshly baked bread!

Jamie Oliver's Master Class Bread Recipes (Banana Bread)

Banana bread - nothing more than a variation of the basic recipe. Some things have been replaced, but basically “everything is as always”!

  • Peel and puree the bananas. The mass will be liquid.
  • Measure out 625 ml, and if it is less, add water. Well, instead of water, use “banana mousse” in the banana bread recipe.
  • Prepare the dough according to the basic recipe, adding nuts during the first kneading.
  • Only 1/2 honey is used for the dough.
  • Almonds are optional, so to speak, to your taste, but they still taste better with nuts.
  • After the dough has risen, you need to shape the banana bread:
  • divide into 10 equal balls;
  • place them on a baking sheet at a short distance from each other;
  • let the bread rise.

Meanwhile the oven is heating up...

Before placing the banana bread in the oven, pour the remaining honey over it.

And again I'm in a banana mood :) Very tasty and light banana coffee pie with whipped cream. I took Jamie Oliver's recipe as a basis and changed it a little.
