Gooseberries for tincture are used both ripe and slightly unripe. Therefore, it can be collected at different times. A richer taste comes from berries that are about to start falling from the bush, as they contain more juice and sugar.

To prepare the tincture, it is better to use ripe gooseberries.

Preparing gooseberries is not difficult. The fruits are washed, sorted, getting rid of spoiled berries, and dried. The stalks do not need to be removed, since they do not have much significance during the cooking process.

Alcohol base

To prepare the tincture at home you will need vodka. It is not necessary to buy elite varieties for these purposes; standard quality vodka will be quite sufficient. It is best to use an alcohol-containing drink uncolored, since various additives can negatively affect the taste of the finished product.

Tincture recipes

You can prepare gooseberry tincture according to various recipes, which differ in components and taste. It is best for a beginner to choose the simplest method, while more experienced winemakers can try to prepare an exclusive drink.

Traditional recipe

The most common and at the same time the simplest preparation method involves the use of the following ingredients:

  1. Gooseberries – 1 kg.
  2. Vodka – 1 l.
  3. Sugar – 1 tbsp.
  4. Water – 220 ml.

The gooseberries are mashed a little, placed in a bottle and filled with vodka. Infuse the berries for 2 months. The drink is then filtered and cooled syrup of water and sugar is added. The drink will be ready in a couple of weeks.


First, the gooseberries need to be crushed a little with a masher.

Tincture “Aromatic”

To prepare this drink you need:

  1. Sugar – 500 g.
  2. Gooseberry juice – 0.5 l.
  3. Vodka – 1 bottle.
  4. Vanillin – 1 sachet.

The berries are passed through a meat grinder, squeezed and allowed to settle so that all the juice comes out. Add sugar to it and heat it in a water bath until all the sugar has dissolved.

Important. You cannot boil the drink!

Vanillin is added to the hot syrup, and after a while vodka is added. Infuse the resulting mixture for at least 10 days.

Tincture “Emerald”

This drink is prepared with alcohol.

It will require:

  1. Sugar – 1 kg.
  2. Gooseberries (green) – 1 kg.
  3. Boiled water – 3 glasses.
  4. Alcohol – 600 ml.

The berries need to be thoroughly mashed into a paste, add sugar and water. Close the container tightly with a lid and let it brew for 48 hours. Then add a glass of alcohol to the mixture and leave for 24 hours. After this time, strain the drink through cheesecloth or a sieve, add the remaining alcohol, and stir. The resulting drink is sent to a cool place for 3-5 days.

Tincture “4x4”

Even beginners can make this vodka tincture.

It will require:

  1. Berries - 4 cups.
  2. Vodka – 4 glasses.
  3. Mineral still water – 4 glasses.
  4. Sugar – 4 cups.

Whole berries are placed in a jar. Sugar is mixed with water and boiled. Pour the cooled syrup over the gooseberries, add vodka and cover with a lid. The resulting drink is stored in a cool place for 3 months. After the expiration date, the tincture is filtered, bottled and left for a couple of days in a dark room.

Tincture “For lovely ladies”

The recipe for this tincture is:

  1. Currant leaves (50 pieces) are boiled for 15 minutes, pouring 800 ml of water.
  2. Strain.
  3. Add 1 tbsp. l. citric acid and 1 cup sugar.
  4. Bring to a boil again.
  5. Cool.
  6. Add 0.5 liters of vodka and gooseberries (60 pieces).
  7. Insist for 1 month.

Tincture “Gooseberry + strawberry”

For this recipe you need:

  1. Strawberries – 1 tbsp.
  2. Gooseberries - 2 tbsp.
  3. Sugar – 1 tbsp.
  4. Vodka – 1 bottle.
  5. Boiling water – 400 ml.
  6. Mint – 1 sprig.

The combination of gooseberries and strawberries will give the tincture an interesting taste.

Sugar and mint are placed in a jar and poured with boiling water. Add a layer of gooseberries and strawberries, pour in vodka, cover with a lid and let sit at room temperature for 24 hours. After this, the drink is stored in a cool room for 40 days. The finished product is filtered and bottled.

Moonshine tincture

To prepare this drink you need:

  1. Place a lemon cut into several pieces (along with the zest) at the bottom of a 3-liter jar.
  2. Place a layer of berries on top, which should end at the narrowing point of the jar.
  3. Add sugar almost to the top.
  4. Fill everything with moonshine without additives.
  5. Cover with a lid and store in a dark room for 3 months.
  6. Strain the finished drink and pour into bottles.

To prepare drinks, carefully washed, whole berries without stalks are taken. Recipes for making tinctures may differ in the composition or quantity of some components, but they always contain alcohol, gooseberries, and sugar.

They begin to prepare gooseberry tincture in the summer, when the berries ripen. Ripe healthy fruits are used for it. Dark varieties of gooseberries will allow you to make a beautiful pink tincture. For berry tincture, it is better to use undiluted alcohol or double-distilled moonshine. Double distillation provides moonshine with a strength of up to 70 degrees. Vodka with gooseberries in Russian style. Cooking secrets

Fill a three-liter glass jar with gooseberries, but not to the very top, but until the vessel narrows to
neck. Pour in half a liter of alcohol or double-distilled moonshine, add 300 grams of granulated sugar. It is necessary that the vodka covers the entire gooseberry. If half a liter of alcohol is not enough, add more. But don’t be greedy and don’t fill the vessel to the brim. Close it with a tight nylon lid, shake it and put it in a dark place to infuse.

  • The drink must be infused for at least a month.
  • Periodically, about once a week, you need to shake the contents.
  • Filter the resulting tincture through cheesecloth, pour into bottles and seal.

The tincture retains all the beneficial properties of the berries and is pleasant to the taste. There is no shame in putting a decanter of soft green or pink alcoholic drink on the table for guests. It will be beneficial if you drink 50-75 grams before lunch. But no more. Infused with pure alcohol, the tincture is quite strong.

But if instead of alcohol you take vodka or regular single-distilled moonshine, and double the amount of sugar, you will get a tasty liqueur of 18-20 degrees strength. But before making the liqueur, it is advisable to clean the moonshine. Birch or activated carbon will draw out unnecessary impurities and fusel odors, which, without filtration, will clog the natural aroma of berries.

Assorted berry absinthe

Raspberries can be called the queen of berries. In terms of its healing and taste qualities, not a single berry can compare with it. It is delicate in taste, beautiful in color, and has an unsurpassed aroma. Traditional medicine uses not only raspberry fruits, but also twigs with leaves, from which you can prepare decoctions, water or alcohol tinctures.

Raspberries contain a large amount of iron, salicylic and other organic acids, which turn this berry into a healing one. Raspberries are used in the treatment of colds, hypertension and blockage of blood vessels. In combination with gooseberries, this healing effect is enhanced.

By combining raspberries and gooseberries in an alcohol tincture, you can make a drink that is not only healthy, but also pleasant to taste.

For a strong tincture you will need:

  • 400 grams of raspberries,
  • 2kg gooseberries,
  • 1.5 liters of alcohol
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (optional)

Sweetened liqueurs are smoother and easier to drink, but not everyone likes strong alcoholic drinks with a sweet taste. Therefore, you can give up sugar.

Place the prepared raspberries and gooseberries into a five-liter glass bottle. If you don’t have such dishes, use two three-liter jars and divide all the contents between them. Pour the berries into the bowl and shake it to mix the berries. Pour in sugar and pour in alcohol so that it covers the contents of the jar.

Place the tincture in a dark, cool room for a month. When the berries have stood, strain the contents of the bottle through several layers of gauze, and pour the finished tincture into bottles.

The liqueur is prepared in approximately the same way, but to prepare it, take vodka or half-diluted alcohol and add 0.5 kg of granulated sugar. This recipe is suitable for making liqueurs from other berries. For example, if you combine gooseberries with currants, you get a liqueur with the aroma of currants.

Wine liqueur recipe

To prepare wine liqueur for 1 kilogram of gooseberries, take:

  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar,
  • 0.75 l of vodka and
  • 0.75 l of wine.

Ripe gooseberries are poured with vodka and exposed to the sun for a week. Then the vodka is poured into another container, and red wine is poured into the berries, which is also infused for several days. Then the wine is drained and combined with the first liqueur, sugar is added there. The resulting composition is brought to a boil, and immediately removed from the heat, cooled and poured into prepared bottles.

Homemade gooseberry wine

For 1 kg of gooseberries you will need 1/4 liter of water and 200 grams Sahara.

Please note that berries cannot be washed to make homemade wines. The fact is that yeast fungi settle on their surface, ensuring natural fermentation.

  1. Sort the berries, remove any spoiled ones, put them in a jar and mash them with a wooden masher;
  2. Then pour sugar into the jar, pour in clean filtered water;
  3. Shake the contents of the jar;
  4. Tie the neck with gauze;
  5. Place the jar with the preparation in a dark place with a room temperature no higher than 25 o C for 3-4 days.

The formation of foam and a slight hiss mean that the fermentation process is underway. Place a rubber glove over the neck of the jar, just make a small hole in one of your fingers. If the wine does not play, the fermentation process is not observed in it, pour half a glass of raisins into the jar and wait another 2 days. Fermentation will last a month and a half. You will know that it is over by the glove coming down and the sediment that has fallen at the bottom of the jar. The wine must be drained, filtered through several layers of gauze, poured into clean bottles and hermetically sealed with corks.

This recipe is suitable for making wine from raspberries, currants, and pomegranate.

  5. The prepared drink is filtered using cotton wool. It is recommended to store it in a glass container in a cool, warm place. Its strength is 14–17°.

Wine liqueur

Ingredients:

  • berries – 1 kg;
  • granulated sugar – 1.5 cups;
  • vodka – 750 ml;
  • wine – 750 ml.

This recipe is simple. To do this you need to do the following:

  1. Pour vodka over the berries and leave the container with the mixture in the sun. A week is enough for this.
  2. After this, pour the vodka into another container.
  3. Now add the wine. It must be infused for several days.
  4. Then drain the wine and combine with vodka. Sweeten it.
  5. The mixture must be brought to a boil, cooled and bottled

"Fragrant"

To make this drink you will need the following components:

  • clarified gooseberry juice – 500 ml;

  • alcohol – 0.5 l;
  • sugar - one glass;
  • lemon juice or citric acid – 1 tbsp;
  • water – 4 glasses;
  • currant leaf – 40 pieces;
  • 65 gooseberries.
  1. Clean water needs to be boiled along with currant leaves.
  2. The broth is filtered and lemon juice or acid and sugar are added. The mixture is boiled again.

It is no coincidence that this method of preparing tincture received such a name. It requires four components. Each of them is taken in the amount of four glasses:

  • fruit;
  • sugar;
  • still mineral water.

Prepare as follows:

  1. First you need to prepare the sugar syrup and cool it.
  2. Pour the berries into a glass container.
  3. Add syrup to them.
  4. Then the alcohol base is poured in.
  5. A tightly closed jar is placed in a dark place for three months.

With raspberries

This combination of ripe fruits makes the drink exquisite. It has a unique aroma and taste. You will need the following ingredients:

  • 400 g raspberries;
  • 2 kg gooseberries;
  • 1.5 liters of alcohol;
  • 300 g sugar (optional).

You can sweeten the tincture at the final stage of cooking if it is not sweet enough. To prepare, do the following:

  1. Place all the berries in a glass jar and mix.
  2. If desired, add sugar immediately.
  3. Fill the contents with vodka. It should cover the assorted berries by at least 2–3 cm.
  4. The mixture is left in a dark place at room temperature for a month.
  5. After this, the tincture is drained and filtered.
  6. The finished liqueur is poured into bottles and stored in a cool place, protected from sunlight. Its shelf life is 2 years from the date of manufacture.

  • 1 kg gooseberries
  • 1 liter of strong vodka
  • 300 g liquid honey
  • half a vanilla stick
  • dried ginger in small quantities

Preparation:

  1. After placing the gooseberries in the jar, the fruits should be slightly crushed.
  2. Also put half a vanilla pod and a piece of dried ginger in the jar.
  3. Pour in all the vodka, close tightly and leave it in a dark place for three weeks.
  4. After this time, drain the liquid, but remember that there is a lot of alcohol left in the berries.
  5. To extract it, we must pour in copper and let the jar stand for another three weeks.
  6. The next step is to drain the liquid and mix it with the previous one.
  7. We carefully filter both tinctures and pour them into bottles, which we store in a dark place for a month.

I don’t know how correct it is to write a review about an alcoholic drink, and even a homemade one. But this is a homemade recipe and is not mass produced. Moreover, it is produced extremely rarely (during the berry season), and is used exclusively for personal purposes, and not for sale.
I myself am not a fan of creating homemade wines and other alcoholic products. Their production is extremely painstaking, and in order to end up with a high-quality and worthy option, all proportions and recommendations for making the drink must be carefully followed. This is not for me. Drain, rinse, filter, and even remove the tubes. Trouble, in a word. In addition, it is quite rare to get a clear drink - it is very difficult to invent such a thing.
Once, about 6-7 years ago, at one of my friends’ birthdays, I tried a gooseberry (green) tincture. A very clear drink with a delicate taste. The mistress-magician did not immediately admit that it was her doing. Then she gave me the recipe with giblets. Since then, during the gooseberry harvest years, I have been making this miracle drink.
And practically no work.

The recipe is as simple as a clear day.
Take the gooseberries, wash them, put them in a three-liter jar (not completely, you need to leave a little space for other ingredients), add sugar, pour in vodka, and close the lid. You can shake it a little so that the sugar seeps between the gooseberries. And we leave all this for exactly 40 days. Why 40 days is not clear, the figure is not very beautiful. But maybe a little later, no big deal.
There is no need to knead or stir anything. Take out the tubes even more so. Just put the jar in a dark place and don’t disturb it until it’s due. After the allotted time, you can try.
I’ll note what I did on red (preferably purple) gooseberries. Then the color of the tincture becomes bright ruby. The green drink is not very appetizing.
My production date is already expiring; if you look into the jar, it looks very tempting.

If you pour a drink into a glass, you can be sure that it is completely transparent, without a single sediment. The color is bright red, very rich. The appearance is attractive and does not cause disapproval or fear of drinking the tincture.



After 40 days or a little more, filter the drink and pour it into a glass bottle. You can store it anywhere, not necessarily in the refrigerator. Since I cook very little, the drink is drunk almost immediately (does not stagnate).
As for the degree - no more than 16. Of course, if anyone wants it stronger, you can add a little more alcohol at the first stage. Or later, during use, increase the degree to the desired level. The same goes for sugar; for those who like it sweeter, you can add 400 grams.
I believe that the composition that I indicated at the beginning of the review is the most optimal. Because if there is more sugar, the drink will be very sugary and heavier. The same goes for alcohol - this tincture doesn’t really suit the strong taste.
I note that the tincture is very pleasant and bright in taste. Gooseberries are a very unique berry, sour, but at the same time sweet. Therefore, the taste of the tincture on it is amazing.
You can also add some black currant berries for color; the color turns out simply stunning - with a violet tint.
And finally, I note that although alcohol is harmful to our health, such a light tincture in moderate doses is hardly harmful. It has not been fermented, no yeast has been added to it, and this is wonderful, a minimum of ingredients is the key to good quality.
