  2. Place the herring on a pre-made board. We cut off the head and rip open the belly.
  3. We remove all the insides and thoroughly clean the abdominal cavity.
  4. We make a deep cut along the spine and divide the fish carcass into two halves.

  5. Now we need to remove the vertebral ridge and all visible bones, cut off the fins and tail.
  6. Lastly, remove the skin from the fillet. Ready!
  7. For the salad we need potatoes boiled in their jackets. There is nothing complicated about this, especially if you know a couple of secrets: 1) to prevent the tubers from cracking during cooking, add 1/2 tsp to the water. salt; 2) the process of peeling and slicing will become easier if you rinse the boiled potatoes with running water.
  8. Cut the cooled and peeled potatoes into thin slices.
  9. We will also need boiled eggs. We put them in cool water and put them on the stove. After they boil, cook for 10 minutes, and then fill them with cold water for quick cooling. Then they will be easier to clean. Cut them into small slices (1 egg - about 8 slices).
  10. Cut the herring fillet crosswise into beautiful slices, 1-1.5 cm wide.
  11. Cut a medium-sized red onion into thin rings.
  12. Now that all the ingredients are prepared, we begin to assemble our salad.
  13. On a large shallow dish, beautifully alternating, place the herring, eggs and potatoes. Sprinkle everything with onions on top.
